French Honor Guard carries Arafat's casket...

It is so fitting that France is showing respect for a mass murderer on the same day that we Americans are honoring the veterans who have defended our country. I guess he's the closest thing to a soldier they've had in France in years.

The funeral is in Egypt? Well, that makes transporting the body to Ramallah easy. All they have to do is take it through the arms-smuggling tunnels between Egypt and Gaza. From there it's a hop, skip, and jump to the west bank.

Michael Moore is my hero!

Yes, I'm serious. Well half-serious.

I don't like anything he has to say, but at least he has the balls to say the same thing no matter who he's speaking to, unlike Danny Glover, Madonna, and other Hollywood mouths who have to go to other countries to criticize our country and its administration.

The wrong question always gets the wrong answer...

It has occurred to me listening to the media the last few days that the pollsters and pundits are asking the wrong question about the election results. They are all wondering why the voting results didn't match the exit polls when they really need to be wondering why the exit polls didn't match the voting results. They just don't get it. Their automatic assumption is that the polls must be more accurate and I've seen more than one internet column insinuating that the election must have been rigged. It's beyond me how anyone can think that asking people in select areas who they voted for is better than counting up all the votes in the country.

In 2000, one of the big arguments was that the one with the most popular votes should win, regardless of the electoral college. Now, Bush had the most popular votes and the most electoral college votes. Still, they want to stick with the line that he's an illegitimate president.

Quotes from around the world...

"The American people have spoken."
-George W. Bush, after receiving more votes than any U.S. president in history, and the first since 1988 to win a majority of the votes cast.

"How could 59,054,087 people be so dumb?"
-Daily Mirror (a London tabloid)

"What do you think of a voting system like the American one that gives a physician, an intellectual, an astronaut, an intelligent person and the head of the family, a vote that has the same weight as the vote of an ignorant, a fool, an idiot, an imbecile, a hippy, a bum, an unemployed man, who has no diploma, culture, or brains. What is this?!"
-Muslim cleric Saleh Al-Munajid, in Saudi Arabia (a country with NO elections)

-----

I thought that G.W. winning this election would in effect be telling other countries to keep their noses out of our voting, but I guess nothing will stop them.

Oklahoma Senate Campaign only half nasty

Brad Carson's mudslinging was hurting him in the polls so he called for an end to the attack ads on both sides. Now Carson and Coburn's ads are positive but, conveniently, a 527 is still attacking Coburn with old charges about voting against tornado relief for Oklahoma. They must have caught the wink when Carson made his big announcement about being positive from now on.
